The Hip Hop community has suffered another blow with the passing of De La Soul rapper Trugoy the Dove.
Plug 2, whose real name is Dave Jolicoeur, was a Brooklyn native, who joined forces with Vincent Manson (Pasemaster Mase) and Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos) in 1988, to form one of the greatest Hip Hop groups of all time.
De La Soul’s publicist Tony Ferguson confirmed Trugoy the Dove’s passing on Sunday (February 12) calling his death a “huge loss.”
Dave was 54 years old and his cause of death was not provided.
His passing comes as the Hip Hop community anticipates De La Soul’s first six albums finally becoming available to stream in March.
The group was also scheduled to perform three shows in the United Kingdom starting April 8, 2023.
Tributes to Trugoy the Dove are pouring in on social media as many remember the incomparable rapper and a really great human being.
