UPDATE: The federal government has announced every home in the U.S. is eligible to order a third round of free at-home COVID-19 tests.
A federal government website giving Americans the opportunity to order free at-home COVID-19 tests has launched a day early.
COVIDTests.org was slated to launch on Wednesday, January 19, but an “Order free at-home tests” button was added on Tuesday.
The site reads:
Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.
Order your tests now so you have them when you need them.
Clicking the button will redirect you to USPS.com/CovidTests to order four free at-home tests.
The USPS site reads:
COVID-19 tests will start shipping in late January. The Postal Service will only send one set of four free at-home coronavirus tests to valid residential addresses.
The site is still in its beta phase so White House press secretary Jen Psaki asks that everyone be understanding of any issues that may need troubleshooting.
We can’t guarantee there won’t be a bug or two, but the best tech teams across the administration and the Postal Service are working hard to make this a success.
Before writing this post, I went through the process of ordering the free at-home COVID-19 test kits for my family and it was a seamless process without any hiccups.
Please be sure to order the kits for your household using the button below.
Wear your masks and be safe!
