HBO Max is removing “Chappelle’s Show” from their streamer to honor Dave Chappelle‘s request.
You may recall, the legendary comedian publicly asked people to boycott his classic sketch comedy series which was recently added to Netflix and HBO Max because ViacomCBS is not paying him.
Netflix immediately removed the show at Dave’s request.
Meanwhile…back at the ranch, HBO Max took their sweet time acknowledging the request and now they are taking their sweet time removing the show.
According to Casey Bloys, chief content officer of HBO and HBO Max, “Chappelle’s Show” will be removed by the end of the year. (Getting those last minute streams in, eh?)
We had a conversation with Dave. I won’t get into it, but it’s very clear that it’s a very unique and specific and emotional issue he’s got. So at the end of the year, at the end of this year, December 31st, we’re going to honor his request and take the show down.
Netflix and HBO Max fell in line.
ViacomCBS, y’all gone cut the check?!
