‘Golden Bachelor’ Couple Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist Divorcing After 3 Months Of Marriage

Distance, often believed to strengthen bonds, sadly led to the end of the marriage between “Golden Bachelor” stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist.

On Friday, April 12, the couple revealed their decision to divorce after just three months of marriage on “Good Morning America.”

Gerry said: 

Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.

Theresa shared that she and Gerry were concerned about how viewers of the “Golden Bachelor” who were inspired to find love in their 70s would react to the news.

We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch the ‘Golden Bachelor’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope.

We want none of that to change for anybody. 

“Don’t give up,” she added. “Stay in it. Stay hopeful. ‘Cause we are.”

Despite initial claims of unwavering commitment, distance became an insurmountable obstacle for Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, leading to their divorce after three months of marriage.

Turner resides in Indiana while Nist is based in New Jersey. Although they explored the possibility of living together, they never reached a decision.

Both acknowledge their dedication to family but ultimately believe living apart is best for their individual happiness.

While I had hoped it would work out for Gerry and Theresa…I’m not surprised. 

She wasn’t my choice for Gerry. Leslie was.

But, I wish them well as they move forward individually.
