The BET+ biopic, “First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story” is beefing up its cast that includes comedian Jess Hilarious.
The film, directed by Vivica A. Fox and executive produced by Judge Greg Mathis and Tressa Azarel Smallwood, is currently in production in Washington, D.C.
“First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story” follows Tonesa (Michelle Mitchenor), a young woman raised in 1980s Detroit, who becomes seduced by the limelight and adventure of being in the drug game.
She soon meets Harry (Tobias Truvillion), an older, sophisticated head of a drug organization who gives her a taste of the good life.
Bothered by Tonesa’s ambition, Harry controls her through violence.
But when the cycle of prosperity and abuse is about to break her spirit, Harry gets locked up and Tonesa forges a new path with a young, trusted confidante, Terry Flenory, aka Southwest T (Faith Malonte).
The BET+ biopic, slated to premiere later this year, will also star Kellie Williams (“Family Matters”), Daphnique Springs, Leon, and Tristan Fazekas.
The details on Jess Hilarious’ role in the film have not been disclosed.
But, she’s been on her grind and beefing up her acting portfolio.
Jess recently starred in MTV’s comedy, Pretty Stoned, in an ensemble cast that included our girl, Brandee Evans (“P-Valley”).
50 Cent has been very vocal and shady about this project on the heels of the success of his hit Starz series, “BMF,” where La La Anthony‘s character, “Markeisha,” is loosely based on Tonesa.
Both Vivica A. Fox and Judge Mathis responded to the Petty Jackson, but their focus and main priority is putting together a great film and that tells Tonesa Welch’s truth about her life and connection to BMF.
