Eddie Murphy To Play The 'Godfather Of Funk' George Clinton In Biopic

Eddie Murphy is in talks to play George Clinton, the Godfather of Funk, in an upcoming biopic.

Murphy will also produce the film along with John Davis and Catherine Davis through their production company Davis Entertainment.

The production team is currently in communication with George Clinton to acquire the rights to make the movie.

The film will chronicle George Clinton’s humble beginnings in North Carolina in the 1940s to the formation of his innovative band Parliament-Funkadelic.

And the band’s influence on hip hop artists like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Outkast, Tupac, and Wu-Tang Clan.

The film is a passion project for Murphy, and it will be a part of the three-picture deal he acquired from Amazon after the success of Coming 2 America.

Murphy has prior history with Davis Entertainment, he teamed with them on the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name, when he played Rudy Ray Moore aka Dolemite.
