Dominique Fishback had reservations about taking the role in “The Last Days Of Ptolemy Grey” despite being requested for the role by Samuel L. Jackson.
During a recent appearance on “Good Morning America,” the 31-year-old actress shared:
Well he [Samuel L. Jackson] told me that he saw me in ‘Project Power,’ which I did with Jamie Foxx.
And he immediately called his producing partner and said I think we found the girl.
I guess it helped that my character’s name was Robin in that movie and in the show.
But, for me I just finished doing ‘Judas And The Black Messiah,’ and I’m a lot older than what I look like.
And I’m always playing teenagers and I thought well that was my… Even though that character was a teenager she still had like a woman quality, a nuturing quality, and I said maybe it’s time for me to transition out of playing so many teenagers.
I’ll always play teenagers as long as they want me, but you know what I mean.
And that’s why I had the reservations, but I read the novel and I had a chemistry test with Sam.
And I thought if I”m going to do anything I might as well do it with Sam.
Dominique is an amazing actress and her chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson in the Apple series is epic.
Sam Jack plays the role of Ptolemy, a man in his 90s who suffers from dementia and is haunted by memories of his past.
Dominique Fishback plays the role of Robin, an 18-year-old orphan who used to live with Ptolemy’s relatives.
