Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo has been cast to portray Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, in the Antoine Fuqua-directed biopic, Michael.
I previously reported Michael’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, will star as the King of Pop in the highly anticipated biopic.

9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi will portray a young Michael in the film.
Colman Domingo On His Being Cast As Joe Jackson In ‘Michael’ Biopic
It’s exciting to do it with Jaafar. Jermaine Jackson’s son is playing Michael, and he is breathtaking, and I think Graham King, the producer, has assembled an incredible cast.
I’m excited to be a part of a film that explores both the complicated soul of the legendary Michael Jackson as well as his impact on music and culture as a global icon.
Not only am I fortunate to have a rich, complex, and flawed character to portray in Joe Jackson, but I also have a front-row seat for Jaafar’s incredible transformation.

In addition to joining the Michael film, Colman Domingo executive produced the horror movie, It’s What’s Inside, and sold it to Netflix for $17 million.
The Oscar-nominated actor will also appear in the feature films Drive-Away Dolls and Sing Sing.
Colman Domingo is also leading the NAACP Image Awards with three nominations including Entertainer of the Year.

When Will The Biopic ‘Michael’ Be Released?
The Michael Jackson biopic, directed by Antoine Fuqua, began production on January 22, 2024, and is slated to be released worldwide on April 18, 2025.
