Atlanta: 4 Killed, 22 Injured In 6 Different Shootings On 4th Of July Weekend

4th of July weekend was extremely violent and deadly in Atlanta as 4 people were killed and 22 people were injured in 6 different shootings around the city.

An 8-year-old girl was killed after someone opened fire into a car off of University Avenue near the burned Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed by Atlanta police.

The little girl has been identified as Secoriea Turner.

A day later, three other people were shot in the same area. One person was killed. 

Early Sunday morning around 1 a.m. two more people were fatally shot off of Auburn Avenue. 

According to police, a large group of people were watching fireworks when a car hit a pedestrian. 

An argument ensued and escalated into gunfire erupted. 14 people were shot and taken to area hospitals. Two others died from their injuries. 

One of the victims who died was the cousin of comedian, actor and
“Wild N’ Out” star DC YoungFly.

He took to social media writing: 

My cousin was killed on Auburn Ave last nite ?

Police reported three other shootings within the last 24 hours:

On Saturday night around 11:45 p.m., someone drove by and opened fire on a group of people of of Lakewood Avenue. Five people were shot and taken to a nearby hospital. 

One man shot another man in the arm during an argument off of Edgewood Avenue around 12:50 a.m.

Officers found a man and a woman shot of of Hardee Street. 

Both have declined to give information to the police about the shooting and why it happened. They were transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition.
