Oscars: Twitter Reacts To Anthony Hopkins’ Win & Chadwick Boseman’s Snub

The Oscars had many people geared up to celebrate the life work of the great Chadwick Boseman, but they shockingly gave the award to Anthony Hopkins instead.

Chadwick did an amazing job in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, his last role before he lost his secret battle with cancer last August.

After he won the Golden Globe many people thought he was a shoo-in for the Oscar win.

The 93rd Oscars changed their format to announce the Best Actor category at the end of the show, leading people to believe they wanted to end the show honoring Chadwick Boseman with a posthumous Oscar.

Instead, they awarded the Best Actor Oscar to Anthony Hopkins for his role in The Father.

Anthony Hopkins was not in attendance to receive the award and judging from a video he posted on his IG account he even thought that Chadwick Boseman was going to win the award.

At 83 years of age, I did not expect to get this award. I really didn’t. I’m very grateful to the Academy. Thank you. I want to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who was taken from us far too early.

And again, thank you all very much. I really did not expect this, so I feel very privileged and honored, thank you.

The takeaway from the Oscar fumble is that we don’t need an award to recognize the amazing acting contributions from the great Chadwick Boseman.

Gone but never forgotten! Rest in power King T’Challa!
