Angela Simmons Addresses Criticism Over Her Pistol Purse 

Angela Simmons is speaking out after she was criticized for attending the 2024 BET Awards carrying a purse shaped like a pistol.

In full transparency, even I was taken aback when I saw Rev. Run’s daughter carrying the glitter green gun on the blue carpet of the awards considering how gun violence has impacted her life.

Sutton Tennyson, Angela’s former fiancee and the father of her son, SJ, was gunned down outside of his Atlanta home in 2018.

More recently, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, the brother of Angela’s boyfriend, Yo Gotti, was shot and killed in January after attending a funeral.

Angela Simmons Addresses Backlash Over Gun Purse

Angela Simmons took to her Instagram Story to address the backlash saying she’s “not like that” and she’s “not a violent person.” 

She acknowledged she’s “been through a lot” in her personal life when it comes to gun violence, but “I just liked the bag.”

“I thought it was cool and I thought it was a fashion moment…and that was it.”

I’ve sometimes thought Angela Simmons was possibly neurodivergent. I don’t say it as an insult, it’s just that her ability to assess what’s cringey and what isn’t doesn’t seem….level with her age or social status.
