Andrew Brown Jr.: Judge Denies Release Of Bodycam Video To Public (Video)

A North Carolina judge has ruled against the release of the bodycam video in the police-involved shooting death of Andrew Brown Jr.

Brown, 42, was fatally shot in the head by a deputy sheriff in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on April 21, when Pasquotank County deputies were trying to execute a warrant.

Pasquotank County District Attorney Andrew Womble says officers fired on Andrew Brown Jr. when he drove his car towards them.

Chantel Cherry-Lassiter, one of the family attorneys, said the video showed an “execution,” in which deputies shot at Brown as he sat in his car with his hands on the wheel.

Andrew’s family and their attorneys have been allowed to see 20 seconds of the police bodycam footage, but Judge Jeff Foster denied media requests to make the video public for at least 30 days.
