Will Smith surprised Jabari Banks today with the news that he landed the lead role of Will on Peacock’s “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” reboot, and Jabari was ecstatic.
Watch the video below:
This will be Jabari’s first television role, but his background couldn’t be more aligned for the role of Will.
Jabari is a resident of West Philly, and he graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2020.
Outside of acting, he is an accomplished songwriter, singer, rapper, and basketball player.
It’s as if he’s been groomed for the role.
The series will be titled “Bel-Air,” and it will bring the 90’s sitcom into the modern day.
The episodes will be one hour long, and the show will premiere in 2022.
The series will be executive produced by Will Smith, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and Brady and Rasheed Newsome (“The Chi” and “The 100“), amongst many others.
Congrats to Jabari Banks for landing such an iconic and influential role.
