Update: Thomas Jefferson Byrd Fatally Shot In Atlanta

As the entertainment industry continues to grieve the passing of Thomas Jefferson Byrd, more details are coming out about his tragic death.

Thomas, who has starred in classic films like Spike Lee’s Clockers, He Got Game, as well as Set It Off, was fatally shot in Atlanta early Saturday morning.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports:

The call came in from the 2200 block of Belvedere Avenue about 1:45 a.m., according to Atlanta police spokesman Officer Anthony Grant. When police arrived at the location, they found Byrd on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds in his back.

He was pronounced dead by Grady emergency medical services.

Spike Lee broke the heartbreaking news of Thomas’ passing on Sunday via social media.

A suspect or a motive has not been released in the shooting death of Thomas.
