For over twenty years, Wicked has captivated audiences with its enchanting tale of the witches of Oz.

Now, this iconic story is set to dazzle a whole new generation as it makes its cinematic debut.

The film stars the incredibly talented Cynthia Erivo (known for her role in Harriet and Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, the misunderstood green-skinned witch, and pop sensation Ariana Grande as Glinda, the privileged and ambitious witch with a heart yet to be discovered.

The story unfolds at Shiz University in the magical Land of Oz, where Elphaba and Glinda meet and form a deep, though unlikely, friendship.

However, their paths diverge dramatically after an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

As Glinda succumbs to the lure of fame and power, Elphaba’s quest to stay true to herself leads to unexpected and dramatic consequences.

Their journeys will ultimately define them as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey (known from “Bridgerton“) as the charming prince Fiyero, Tony nominee Ethan Slater as the Munchkin student Boq, and Marissa Bode in her feature-film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba’s sister.

Jeff Goldblum also stars as the Wizard of Oz.

New characters include Pfannee and ShenShen, played by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James, respectively, and Miss Coddle, a new addition to the story portrayed by Tony nominee Keala Settle.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), Wicked will be presented in two parts, with the first chapter premiering this holiday season and Part Two scheduled for November 26, 2025.
