Tobe Nwigwe and Fat, one of the realest and dopest hip hop couples on the planet, recently appeared on “Sway’s Universe” and talked about being surprised that Usher, Ryan Coogler, and Rihanna were familiar with their work when they met.
Tobe Nwigwe started posting original music and videos every Sunday on social media in August 2016, and last year he was nominated for Best New Artist at the 65th Grammy Awards.
Tobe and Fat have been on their grind over the past seven years.
They have wowed crowds at awards shows with their incredible performances, and Tobe co-starred in the Netflix series “Mo.”
Tobe and Fat’s energy, chemistry, and life prospectives are infectious.
It is a little surprising that they don’t realize how impactful their music and personalities are on people.
Tobe said when he met Usher, he was surprised that Usher approached him and said he love what he do and they should exchange information.
Tobe said he responded:
Bruh, we not gonna act like you not Usher…
Yeah, we not gonna act like Confessions ain’t the greatest R&B album, to me personally, we ain’t gonna do that!
I ain’t never met you dawg!… Yeah, hug me!… Embrace me!
I ain’t gonna just take your information down and act like this a casual conversation, this ain’t casual.
Tobe said he’s been a fan of Ryan Coogler since he heard him talk in an interview, and he was instantly inspired by him because he was so relatable.
Fat’s said it was Rihanna who surprised her, and by chance, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky sat right behind her and Tobe at the Black Panther movie premiere.
Fat said she played it cool until right before the movie was about to start, and she turned around and waved at Rihanna.
She said, Rihanna said “hi, and she said um that she watched the video, and she said the colors, the aesthetics and everything that we do, is a breath of fresh air.”
