St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones kept it real after gunshot rang out during her press conference on Friday (October 29).

Ironically, the event was focused on reducing violent crime.

Mayor Jones, who is the first Black female mayor, didn’t even flinch, but she said this:

I hear gunshots in my neighborhood every night.

My son and I fall asleep to the lullaby of gunshots in the distance every night because I’m the first mayor in over 20 years to be born, raised, and still live in North St. Louis.

Mayor Jones won a tight race and made history in St. Louis in April 2021.

St. Louis has a real one.

We wish Mayor Tishaura Jones much success as she fights to rid the city of gun violence.
