It’s with a heavy heart that I report Gregory Jacobs, best known as Shock G of the legendary rap group, Digital Underground, has passed away. 

Digital Underground co-founder Chopmaster J shared the sad news via Instagram on Thursday evening. 

He wrote: 

34 years ago almost to the day we had a wild idea we can be a hip hop band and take on the world through it all the dream became a reality and the reality became a nightmare for some. And now he’s awaken from the fame long live shock G Aka Humpty Hump and Rest In Peace my Brotha Greg Jacobs!!! #digitalunderground 😔

Shock G’s cause of death has not been revealed at this time.

According to TMZ, Shock’s father, Edward Racker, the rapper was found dead in a Tampa hotel room. 

He was 57. 

My sincerest condolences and prayers to the Jacob family and all who knew and loved him.
