Nia Long and Ime Udoka ended their 13-year relationship after his cheating scandal.
The 45-year-old former Boston Celtics head coach was suspended for the remainder of the 2022-2023 NBA season after he allegedly had an affair with a female subordinate within the team’s organization.
After the affair went public, Ime released a statement to ESPN’s Malika Andrews saying, “I want to apologize to our players, fans, the entire Celtics organization, and my family for letting them down. I am sorry for putting the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for everyone involved, I will have no further comment.”
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nia Long opened up about the impact the scandal had on Kez Udoka, her and Ime’s 11-year-old son.
“I went home to be with my son, and that was what was most important to me, because he was not having an easy time. I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public.”
Nia took Kez out of school when the news broke.
“It was devastating, and it still is. He still has moments where it’s not easy for him.”
She also shared her disappointment in the Celtics organization.
“If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK. It’s very disappointing.”
On Thanksgiving, Nia shared a photo of her new place.
She captioned the now-deleted post, “Thankful for the gift of new places and spaces.”

Nia Long and Ime Uduka were never married during their 13-year relationship.
The 51-year-old actress was very clear that marriage was not a priority.
In August 2012, she told Essence magazine, “I don’t feel less loved or less loving because I’m not married. I worked hard to have the career I wanted, but I’ve also been deliberate about my personal life. None of this is a mistake.”
A rep for the actress also confirms the couple are “no longer together but remain fully committed to co-parenting their son.”
I wish Nia and Ime the very best as they move forward separately.
