New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The Patriots released a statement confirming one of their players did indeed test positive for COVID-19, however, they did not mention Cam Newton by name.
Late last night, we received notice that a Patriots player tested positive for COVID-19. The player immediately entered self-quarantine. Several additional players, coaches, and staff who have been in close contact with the player received point of care tests this morning and all were negative for COVID-19.
We are in close consultation with the NFL, as well as our team of independent doctors and specialists, and will follow their guidance regarding our scheduled trip to Kansas City and game against the Chiefs. The health and safety of our team, as well as or opponent, are of highest priority.
See the statement below:
On Saturday afternoon, the team announced the Patriots vs. Chiefs game will be postponed.
The news of Cam Newton reportedly testing positive for COVID-19 comes on the heels of the Tennessee Titans having several players test positive.
I have a feeling this is going to get worse before it gets better because the NFL is too money hungry to do the right thing.
Prayers to everyone who has bee impacted by coronavirus.
