A Mall of Georgia Macy’s employee is in the hospital with severe injuries after being stabbed in the arm and stomach, while attempting to stop a robbery.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Jose Reyes-Serrato of Loganville, Georgia.
According to Gwinnett County Police, Jose entered the Mall of Georgia Macy’s Friday morning (August 2) and smashed the jewelry cases with possibly a crowbar, and started stealing the jewelry.
A Macy’s employee attempted to stop Jose, and he pulled out a large kitchen knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
The victim has been hospitalized with severe injuries.
Jose then ran out of the mall and attempted to get away in a gray truck.
Officers spotted the truck on Buford Drive, a street parallel to the mall, and began ramming his vehicle.
Jose attempted to keep driving, but he opted to jump out of the vehicle and run.
Police gave chase in the busy shopping area.
