Zayden Banks, the 11-year-old son of rapper Lil Durk, took to social media to stand up for his dad, who is facing federal charges in a murder-for-hire plot.
The Chicago rapper and founder of Only the Family (OTF), whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested in Florida on October 24 and was booked into Broward County Jail facing murder-for-hire charges, according to jail records.
The arrest comes as federal prosecutors unsealed a bombshell indictment in Los Angeles targeting five members of Durk’s OTF collective.
The charges stem from an alleged murder-for-hire plot against fellow rapper Quando Rondo, highlighting the dangerous intersection of music and street violence that has long plagued the drill scene.
Zayden Banks took to Instagram on Tuesday and shared a video of Mayor Brandon Johnson speaking about the positive things his father has done in Chicago.
The caption on the post read:
I want to take a moment to stand up for my dad, Durk Banks. He has always dedicated his life to uplifting others and giving back to our community through his nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Heroes. Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally.
Right now, he is facing challenges, but I want to affirm that he has not been convicted of any charges and remains innocent until proven otherwise. During this difficult time, I ask for your support for him and all the good he continues to do.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the mayor for standing with my dad. His speech was well said and truly reflects the community’s support for those who strive to make a positive impact.

Lil Durk is expected to be arraigned in Los Angeles federal court “in the coming weeks,” the court said in a statement.
