Lena Waithe‘s hit series, “Twenties,” has been renewed for a second season at BET.
The series follows Hattie, a woman in her 20s and her two straight best friends, Mari and Nia, as they chase their dreams in Los Angeles while trying to figure out life, love and the professional world.
Scott Mills, President of BET, gushed:
The first season of ‘Twenties,’ led by the incredible Jonica T. Gibbs, Christina Elmore and Gabrielle Graham, was a joy to watch in every sense.
BET has always been about empowering and elevating black stories and we’re so excited to see where Lena Waithe and Susan Fales-Hill’s remarkable vision takes us in the second season.
Lena Waithe reacted to the renewal saying:
It took a long time to get this show on the air, but it was absolutely worth the wait. I needed THIS phenomenal cast and crew to make it happen. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with this amazing group of people and our incredible viewers.
In addition to BET, “Twenties” will be making its debut on Showtime in July.
Hill Grad Productions shared the exciting news writing:
This summer we’re expanding our queerness and spreading the melanin magic. ?✨
Season 1 of TWENTIES will be making its debut on @SHOWTIME next month. BET is still home, we’re just showing up in additional places and spaces.
All episodes will be available to stream on July 2nd, or you can watch every Monday starting July 6th at 10p/9c after an encore of @ShoTheChi.
