LaVar Ball’s Impact On Basketball & Big Baller Brand
LaVar Ball first gained national attention in 2017, when he confidently predicted that his eldest son, Lonzo Ball, would be drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.
His prediction came true when the Lakers selected Lonzo with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft.
Beyond his bold statements—like claiming he could beat Michael Jordan one-on-one—LaVar Ball made waves by founding Big Baller Brand (BBB) in 2016, a company that produced signature shoes for his sons, LaMelo, Lonzo, and LiAngelo Ball.
While the brand faced challenges, including a 2019 shutdown, it has since reopened.
LaVar’s Basketball Legacy Lives On
Despite his recent health setback, LaVar Ball’s sons continue to make headlines in the basketball world:
- LaMelo Ball is averaging a career-high 27.3 points per game for the Charlotte Hornets.
- Lonzo Ball made a long-awaited return to the Chicago Bulls lineup after battling knee injuries for three years.
- LiAngelo Ball, though yet to make his NBA debut, has pursued a professional career overseas and recently performed as a rapper during NBA All-Star Weekend.
LaVar Ball has always been a larger-than-life figure, and despite this challenging time, his influence on basketball and his family’s legacy remains strong.
Sending prayers and positive energy to LaVar!
