Jasmine Davis has announced she will not be returning for Season 5 of “The Chi.”
The hit drama series from Lena Waithe and Common is slated to return on June 24.
Jasmine played the role of “Imani,” the girlfriend of Luke James’ character, “Trig.”
Her character description reads:
Trig’s loving girlfriend Imani is ride-or-die for her man, but will stand up to him when she feels he is wrong.
She has a good heart and is happy to help people who need it, including aiding Trig in getting custody of Jake.
Over the weekend, Jasmine Davis took to social media to announce her departure from the show writing:
Due to the many inquiries I’m officially announcing.
I will not be in season 5 of @shothechi and I will no longer be part of #thechi / #disneyproduction .

Because Jasmine was considered a recurring guest on the series, she is not contractually obligated to return to the show.
The fact that Jasmine highlighted that “The Chi” is a Disney production I’m sure her exit is in response to Florida’s Don’t Say Gay Bill.
She did respond to one fan saying she will discuss her reason for leaving the show at a later time.
