Jamie Foxx’s birthday celebration took an unexpected turn after an altercation at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills left him needing stitches.
According to reports, the 57-year-old Oscar-winning actor was struck in the mouth with a glass during the dinner on Friday, December 13.
A representative for Foxx confirmed the incident, saying:
Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth.
He had to get stitches and is recovering.
The police were called, and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.
The Los Angeles Police Department and Mr. Chow have not yet commented on the incident.
TMZ reported that authorities were called to the restaurant around 10 p.m. regarding a fight, but Foxx had already left the scene by the time officers arrived.
His name was reportedly included in an assault report filed at the scene.
Jamie, who was joined at the dinner by his daughters Corinne and Anelise as well as ex Kristin Grannis, has been in the spotlight recently for his Netflix comedy special “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…“, which reflects on his near-death medical emergency earlier this year.
In the special, Foxx reveals he suffered a life-threatening stroke and brain bleed in April 2023 while filming Back in Action in Atlanta.
On December 9, Foxx shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, thanking fans for their support.
“It’s a blessing to be in the position I’m in to tell my story my way,” Foxx wrote. “I hope the jokes make you laugh, and I hope the story inspires you.”
Foxx is keeping busy despite the recent drama.
He’s looking ahead to the January 17 Netflix release of Back in Action, co-starring Cameron Diaz, and is also working on the comedy film All-Star Weekend, which he co-wrote and directed.
This latest incident may have disrupted his birthday dinner, but Foxx remains resilient, showing that nothing can stop his drive and passion for storytelling—on and off the screen.
