Caleb Kennedy, who appeared on Season 19 of “American Idol,” has been arrested and charged with felony DUI following a fatal crash in South Carolina.

The 17-year-old singer was driving his 2011 Ford pickup around noon on Tuesday (February 8) when he drove into a private driveway and crashed into a building.

The person inside of the building died as a result of the collision.

Caleb, who is from Roebuck, South Carolina, has been charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death.

He was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and is expected to have a bond hearing at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (February 9).

Caleb Kennedy is no stranger to tomfoolery.

After making it to the Top 5 on “American Idol,” Caleb was booted off of the show after a video surfaced online that allegedly showed him standing next to someone dressed like a klansman.

He took to Instagram writing:

Hey y’all, this is gonna be a bit of a surprise, but I am no longer gonna be on American Idol. There was a video that surfaced on the internet and it displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way.

I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that’s not an excuse. I wanna say sorry to all my fans and everyone who I have let down.

I’ll be taking a little time off social media to better myself, but say that, I know this has hurt and disappointed a lot of people and made people lose respect for me. I’m so sorry!

I pray that I can one day regain your trust in who I am and have your respect! Thank you for supporting me.
