The Brooklyn Nets have named Jacque Vaughn as their new head coach.
The organization made the announcement on Wednesday, November 9, days after rumors began swirling that they had their eyes on Ime Udoka for the position.
The Boston Celtics suspended Udoka for the entire 2022-2023 NBA season for violating the team’s code of conduct after he had an improper and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff.
Going to the Brooklyn Nets would have been a great opportunity for Ime to redeem himself as the amazing coach that he is.
CBS Sports is reporting Nets owner Joe Tsai was urged by some to avoid hiring Ime Udoka for a number of factors that included public and private negative feedback.
Not to mention, Jacque Vaughn, who was already serving as interim coach of the Nets, is said to have created positive energy within the team while they are dealing with external stress.
You may recall in addition to firing Steve Nash, the Brooklyn Nets suspended Kyrie Irving for a least five games over the antisemitic documentary he tweeted.
Welp, Ime Udoka will continue to sit on ice. But, many congrats to Jacque Vaughn.
