Big Sean reluctantly opened up about why he and Jhené Aiko aren’t married.
The Detroit rapper and the soul singer met in 2012 and have been dating on and off since 2016.
In November 2022, the couple welcomed their first child together, Noah Hasani Anderson.
As time passes, it appears the pressure to tie the knot has befallen Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s relationship.
During a sitdown conversation with Charlamagne Tha God, Sean took the scenic route of saying they simply weren’t ready.
It’s a little personal. You know what I mean?
Just to be real with you…just like any people who have dealt with love – we’ve had our ups and downs.
And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all.
To me, marriage symbolizes ‘the best relationship.’
People be like, ‘Oh, you got to get married.’
To me, I feel like having a relationship is first and foremost and marriage is a byproduct of that.
The “Precision” rapper added that the idea of having to get married is “almost a fear-based way of thinking,” noting that divorce rates are very high.
However, he did not say that he would never consider marriage.
“I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done,” Big Sean said.
