Two teenagers have been arrested and are facing murder charges in the street-racing crash that killed three innocent young adults, including the son of comedian Tony Baker.
The violent multi-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, August 3 in Burbank, California.
The victims of the crash have been identified as Jaiden Kishon Johnson, 20, Natalee Asal Moghaddam, 19, and Cerain Baker, 21.
A fourth victim is still hospitalized with critical injuries.
Hamlet Arseni Aghajanyan, 19, was the driver of the gray Kia that struck the Volkswagen the victims were riding in.
Aghajanyan was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with three counts of murder and one count of reckless driving.
He is being held in lieu of $6 million bond.
The 17-year-old driver of the Mercedes Benz was also taken into custody and he is being held at a juvenile detention facility on three charges of murder and one count of reckless driving, pending review of the case by the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.
According to the police, the Kia and Mercedes Benz were racing northbound on Glenoaks.
The Volkswagen, which was heading southbound, was trying to make a left turn when the crash occurred.
The force of the impact sheared the VW in half. Three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
Tony Baker took to social media to share the news of the arrest writing:
The drivers of the cars that took the lives of our babies have been arrested!!
Charged with 3 counts of murder.
Tony is also supporting a petition to stop illegal street-racing in Burbank.
He shared the following statement on his Instagram page.
On August 3rd my son and 2 of his friends lost their lives because they were hit by 2 vehicles racing on a residential street.
We have this petition goin to crack down on police presence & action to prevent other families from dealing with the pain we are. We would love to get 150,000 signatures and BEYOND. I know we can do it. It’s very easy to sign the petition AND it’s free.
