Tyrese Gibson has been ordered to pay his estranged wife, Samantha Lee, $10,000 a month in child support for their 3-year-old daughter, Soraya Lee.
During the hearing, held on Tuesday (August 30) in a Georgia courtroom, the Fast & Furious star was also ordered to maintain a life insurance plan of $1.9 million with Soraya as the beneficiary and Lee as the trustee.
Tyrese and Samantha will be responsible for splitting any childcare, school expenses, and health insurance equally.
The 43-year-old singer and actor appeared to be salty about the judge’s decision, which prompted some advice from the bench.
The judge told Tyrese Gibson and Samantha Lee, “I want you both to love your kid, and I want you both to tell your kid to love the other parent, because that’s how we get successful human beings.”
“Nobody won here and nobody lost. The kid lost, because she doesn’t have her parents together. Minimize the effects of that loss. Minimize it in every way, shape, and form you can.”
The judge also informed Tyrese that the child support was “not a punishment.”
“You’re going to see the dividends it pays in your child. Put that money where it belongs – in the child,” he added.
“FaceTime with your kids. There’s no amount of money that substitutes that, because you can’t buy time. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Spend every minute you can, because you blink and they’re 25.”
Tyrese and Samantha tied the knot on Valentine’s Day in 2017.
They welcomed Soraya Lee in October 2018.
Two years later, in December 2020, they announced they were divorcing after four years of marriage.
Tyrese is also a proud father to his 13-year-old daughter, Shayla Gibson, from his previous marriage to Norma Gibson.
The singer and actor is currently romantically linked to model Zelie Timothy and their relationship is giving Six Flags Over Georgia.
