Roderick ‘Pooh’ Clark: Original Hi-Five Member Passes Away At 49

I am heartbroken to report Roderick “Pooh” Clark, an original member of the R&B group, Hi-Five, has passed away.

Pooh transitioned to his heavenly home on Easter Sunday (April 17).

He was 49.

In 1992, while traveling on I-95 to do a radio show, the group was involved in a car accident that left Pooh paralyzed from the chest down.

Watch a clip from the group’s “Unsung” below as they recalled the day that changed Pooh’s life and the group forever.

Marcus Sanders of Hi-Five took to Facebook to pay tribute to his dear friend by sharing a photo of Roderick along with a funny video that showed his infectious personality.

The caption read:

Angela Garcia-Shelby, who was the girlfriend of the late Tony Thompson, also took to Facebook to pay tribute to Pooh, writing:

Roderick “Pooh” Clark, thru all your life’s struggles, you fought the good fight and you did it with a smile from ear to ear!

I hate I didn’t call u a few weeks ago when I told myself to! But, you always kept me on the phone for almost 2 hrs when we talked, and there was no cutting u off! Lol!

We had some amazing phone conversations in the past and some great visits when I came thru Waco!

I’ll cherish them forever! I love u Pooh and you’ll forever be my big brother!

No more wheelchair, bro! Now, WINGS!!! ❤️ RIP! #HiFive#original

My sincerest condolences and prayers to all who knew and loved Roderick dearly.

May he rest in paradise.

  1. Man, I had just asked about Roderick Pooh Clark on YouTube while watching one of their videos. I asked anyone who heard about him and now I can’t believe he’s gone. Everyone who was born back in the 1970s, they had some songs to dance to. Their dance steps were on cue. Roderick, you never let the car accident that left you in a wheelchair, you left a remarkable life of love, song and persistence to live for 49 years to always put smile even on your worse day. Your undying spirit to keep pushing forward is admirable. You can now rest in eternal peace ????️????️????️????️ with your brother TONY THOMPSON. You are now ???????? angels with wings free of pain and suffering. # HI -FIVE BROTHER FOR LIFE!
