R. Kelly was convicted on three child pornography charges on Wednesday (September 14) at his federal trial in Chicago.
The 55-year-old disgraced singer, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was also convicted on three counts of enticing minors for sex and acquitted on two additional counts.
R. Kelly was acquitted on a fourth child porn count and he was acquitted on an obstruction of justice charge.
Following a month-long trial, the jury deliberated for 11 hours over the course of two days before delivering the verdict.
Kelly’s co-defendants, his former business manager Derrel McDavid and former employee Milton Brown were found not guilty.
In Chicago, a conviction of just one count of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years.
Judges can order the defendants sentenced earlier in separate cases to serve their new sentence simultaneously with or only after the first term is fully served.
In June, R. Kelly was convicted of sex trafficking and racketeering and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Federal inmates must serve at least 85% of their sentences.
