Mo’Nique and D.L. Hughley are trading shade in the streets of social media over a dispute about who was supposed to headline 105.9 KISS-FM’s Comedy Explosion at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Saturday, May 28.
The dispute was made public when Mo’Nique took the stage and blasted D.L. for allegedly refusing to perform if he wasn’t the headliner.
The Oscar-winning actress and comedian told the audience:
Y’all don’t understand what the f**k I had to go through to stand in front of you beautiful muthaf**kas tonight!
Y’all don’t understand the fight a b**ch had to go through to stand in front of y’all tonight.
Y’all don’t understand I was ready to walk the f**k up out of here, but I said I can’t let the people down of muthaf**kin Detroit.
Mo’Nique went on to say:
The muthaf**kin contract said that the b**ch is the headliner.
The headliner. Let me say it again…the headliner. That’s what the muthaf**kin contract says.
Mo’Nique is to be the last muthaf**kin person on the godd*mn stage.
She is the headliner. That’s what I signed the f**k up for.
I’m 30 plus years in this muthaf**kin business and I don’t open no godd*mn body.
The contract said: The Headliner.
But, a n***a named D.L. Hughley turned into a b**ch and said, ‘I won’t perform if she does that. I won’t go out if she does that.’
N***a, you opened for The Kings of Comedy – I closed for The Queens of Comedy, n***a!
And you think because I don’t have a d**k that ain’t my position.
Mo wasn’t done.
She also said:
That b**ch n***a has crossed the muthaf**kin line!
After sharing how D.L. went on a tour disparaging her name after she opened her home to him, Mo’Nique said:
You talking about Young Thug and because of their names…n***a, your name is D.L.
What the f**k does it stand for?

The beef spilled over into the streets of social media when D.L. Hughley took to Instagram writing:
All you have to do is check the order of names on the ticket stub from last night and you’ll see who’s confused.
Against my better judgment, over the objections of my team and 4 other occasions where I said NO, I decided to take a chance and work with Monique.
Oprah was the problem, Tyler Perry was the problem, Charlamagne was the problem, Steve Harvey was the problem, Lee Daniels was the problem, Netflix was the problem… Now it’s MY turn.
At some point it can’t be everyone else, IT’S YOU!!
Lesson learned. I didn’t have anything personal against Monique…
People paid a lot of money to laugh, not hear about your contract.

Mo’Nique responded by posting a copy of her signed performance agreement which has her listed as the “closing talent.”

Here is my Performance Agreement and here are emails and texts confirming that as per usual I’m going to always keep it real and honest with my people.
If you notice mine has signatures and D.L. does not. What type of iron clad agreement doesn’t have the signatures of the participants involved? Apparently D.L.’s. Lol!
Now, you told me to check with my management and this is what I came up with, so how’d did I do?
Perhaps you should’ve taken your own advice, because I’m sure your team would have advised you against trying to pass a deal memo off as a contract.
To those out there who thought a deal memo was the same as a performance agreement (especially some of the comedians) this is how we’re constantly taken advantage of by the business.
And, just so you know the promoter already told my team before the show that you didn’t have a signed agreement, that’s why I’m not surprised you’re using a deal memo.
That said maybe they lied and you actually have a contract. If so the promoters have put themselves in a terrible position to have more legal action taken against them, beyond malicious concealment for breaking the contract at the last second. That said, D.L. we the people will be waiting for your signed agreement.

The saddest part about this is the promoter could have possibly hustled both of them as headliners to secure the bookings.
Instead of eating hot dogs and hamburgers, two legendary comedians spent the holiday by dragging out this beef.
I’m still waiting for D.L. to post his contract tho… ?
