When one judge’s chambers closes another one opens. Judge Greg Mathis‘ new show, “Mathis Court,” is set to premiere on Justice Central this fall.

The news comes just days after Warner Bros. announced the cancellation of “Judge Mathis” after 24 seasons.

Judge Greg Mathis, a former judge of Michigan’s 36th District Court, is the longest-running Black male host on television and the second-longest-reigning arbitrator in courtroom TV history, behind “Judge Judy” star Judith Sheindlin.

On Monday, Mathis took to Instagram to address the cancellation of his show, but he was all smiles as he teased a comeback and noted that this time around he wants his show to be featured on a Black-owned studio.

As you can see with this robe still on something might be happening real soon and in fact, if it does happen is going to be, and it will, be with a Black studio this time.

I want to be able to empower, Black businessmen and Black studios so that they can hire more Black people, and put more Black shows on the air because the commitments we receive from corporate America in Hollywood have been rescinded for the most part.

One of the studios dismissed all the people of color and hired white males to take their places, reportedly.

Others are dropping shows, as you see when there’s this push for African-American images.

Nonetheless, I’m happy to be able to announce to you that you still gonna have me around perhaps for a judge show, perhaps for a judge show and a talk show on political issues or perhaps just a talk show.

We’ll have to wait and see this week you’ll hear.

In closing, Judge Mathis expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and support.

I want to take you more than anything for all the support you have given me and your demonstration of so much love based on the news we’ve received…has shown me how much our love is shared.

Aside from my family and friends, you get all the love I have thank you all for your support, and stay tuned.
