📺 ‘Found’ Canceled At NBC Ahead Of Season 2 Finale

NBC has officially pulled the plug on “Found”, the gripping missing-persons drama led by “Shameless” star Shanola Hampton.

The news hits just ahead of the Season 2 finale on May 15, which will now serve as the series finale.

Created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, “Found” quickly made a name for itself when it debuted in Fall 2023.

The show’s blend of suspense, emotional storytelling, and social commentary turned it into NBC’s top launch on Peacock at the time, with premiere episodes racking up a massive 10.5 million views across platforms in the first week.

🎭 Shanola Hampton Gave Gabi Mosely Her All

Shanola Hampton earned critical acclaim as Gabi Mosely—a public relations expert with a traumatic past, who secretly held her former kidnapper Sir (played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar) captive in her basement to help locate missing people of color who often go ignored by the system.

Season 2 shifted gears dramatically after Sir escaped, changing the show’s tone and structure.

Though still compelling, the creative shake-up and ratings drop contributed to the cancellation.

📉 Why ‘Found’ Was Canceled

The decision to cancel “Found” wasn’t entirely about performance.

Yes, ratings declined in its second season, but the show also faced tough competition and scheduling changes.

NBC’s new deal with the NBA—worth a reported $2.5 billion annually—will fill 180 hours of primetime next season with basketball coverage, slashing the available time for scripted programming.

That move also claimed “The Irrational”Suits LA“Night Court”, and “Lopez vs Lopez”.

Despite the blow, “Found” is still in the conversation.

Warner Bros. Television may shop the series to other platforms in hopes of continuing Gabi Mosely’s story elsewhere.

🧩 What ‘Found’ Was All About

At its heart, “Found” was more than just a procedural—it spotlighted the heartbreaking truth that over 300,000 people of color go missing every year in the U.S., and many are forgotten.

Gabi and her team made it their mission to fight for the unseen, the overlooked, and the silenced.

Alongside Hampton and Gosselaar, the cast included Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, and Karan Oberoi.

The series was produced by Berlanti Productions and Rock My Soul Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
