Floyd felt compelled to do something in support of George’s family so he committed to covering the funeral costs of his services in Houston, Minneapolis, and Charlotte.
A fourth service will be announced later and Floyd will cover the cost of that service as well.
The boxing champ told Hollywood Unlocked‘s Jason Lee, “I felt it was important to share this because his voice has a global impact that needs to be heard, especially during these times.”
George Floyd was killed on May 25 when former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for almost 9 minutes.
He is facing measly charges of third-degree murder and manslaughter. The remaining three officers have not been charged.
I salute Floyd Mayweather for stepping up to show his support to George’s family in a major way.
