However, like the rest of the world, Shannon learned of his death when it was announced on October 1 through the media.

She took to Instagram, writing:

I am without words…Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my dad, John Allen Amos, Jr., transitioned on August 21st.

We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you.

This should be a time of honoring and celebrating his life, yet we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions and uncertainties surrounding his passing. Still, there is some semblance of peace in knowing my father is finally free.

My family and I deeply appreciate the outpouring of love, calls, and texts. Please continue to hold our family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

You may recall that in June 2023, Shannon, who was living abroad, launched an elder abuse investigation, believing her father was being mistreated under the care of her brother, KC.

She took to social media, writing:

On May 14th, I received a distressing call from my dad, sharing that he was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee, in immense pain. Despite being out of the country, I arranged for help to reach him. ICU revealed his life was hanging by a thread.

The past two weeks shattered our world. My dad, a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation. We are collaborating with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and local authorities, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Legal assistance is crucial to ensure their prosecution and protect my father’s future. His home, stripped bare, necessitates a safe space for his return.

She launched a GoFundMe to assist in the legal battle on behalf of her father.

But then John Amos denied he was being abused and stated he had no idea why Shannon launched a GoFundMe.

In a shocking turn of events, John, who was under the care of KC Amos, accused Shannon of elder abuse.

By July 2023, KC Amos had been arrested for making terroristic threats toward his sister Shannon.

Shannon contacted the West Orange, New Jersey, police after KC allegedly sent her text messages referencing his supposed gang affiliations. She also said she received text messages from her brother showing a handgun and a rifle.

In one video, KC Amos was allegedly firing a handgun in an open field, with the caption, “Gonna sleep much better tonight, big sis.”

According to Robert Florida, spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Shannon Amos says KC suffers from bipolar disorder and believes she hired someone to kill him.

It’s heartbreaking that Shannon Amos was robbed of the opportunity to say goodbye to her father.

John’s goddaughter, Amy Goudy, said, “KC will rot for this.”

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
