Comedian Bruce Bruce recently appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast and revealed the advice Steve Harvey gave him at The Apollo that changed his life.
Let me tell you, and Steve was straight up… I mean it was straight no chaser.
And I’ll never forget, I went to The Apollo, and Steve said, ‘This what I want you to do.’ He said, ‘When people come out to see you give em something back.’ And he said, ‘I want you to start dressing in suits.’
He said, ‘You’re a big dude.’ He said, ‘You look good in a suit.’
And I had on some Sean Jean sweatshirt… he said, ‘Man, that stuff right there good when you’re traveling.’ He said, ‘When you getting on a plane, you going to another city…’ He said, ‘But, uh, on stage…’ He said, ’Nah!’
That’s why I started wearing suits. And he took me up in his dressing room, he showed me the suits he had, the gators he had on the floor… I said, ‘Well, I guess I could…’
And I was like, ‘I don’t want to where no suits on stage, you know what I’m saying?’
And he said, ‘Just do it, nah..’ I kept listening to him, listening to him, and I did it, and it just changed my whole life.
And he always gave you, ah, wisdom on how you should do, how you should dress, how you shouild handle yourself in public.
And Steve always kept good dudes around him, you know what I’m saying?
Like, he has a bodyguard name Boomerang tha’s been with him for years and years and years.
And Boom was like, ‘Hey man, just listen to what he has to say, everything will be alright.’
I said, ‘Imma do it.’ And when I did it, it just changed my whole life.
So, I gotta give big ups to Steve, man. You know, I call him uncle Steve, and he knows what he’s talking about.
And it’s proven facts now.
