Cardi B and Offset are parting ways yet again.
On Wednesday, July 31, Cardi B, 31, officially filed for divorce from Offset, 32, marking the end of their six-year marriage.
This news was confirmed by a representative for the “Bodak Yellow” rapper to the New York Post’s Page Six.
The decision to divorce comes after fresh cheating allegations surfaced, involving Offset and his ex-girlfriend, Pretty Redz.
Both parties denied the rumors.
PrettyRedz took to social media writing, “SMH that man wasn’t with me. I was already there wit my husband sister & brother and I’m 7 months pregnant…y’all really have to stop with this type of behavior.”
Offset also took to socials writing, “People really need to do the research…I’m a a public place gabling at a casino with a married 8 month pregnant woman. Wtf I look like being outside publicly cheating SMD!!!”
According to the filing, Cardi B is seeking primary custody of their two children, 6-year-old Kulture Kiari and 2½-year-old Wave Set.
This announcement follows Cardi B’s candid confession on Instagram Live over seven months ago.
She openly shared with her followers, “I’ve been single for a minute now,” according to a recording shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The Grammy-winning artist expressed her desire to start the new year with a fresh outlook, stating, “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah… I’m excited.”
Despite their split, the couple spent significant moments together in recent months.
They celebrated New Year’s Eve together, Offset directed Cardi B’s March music video for “Like What (Freestyle),” they attended a Knicks game in May, and that same month, Cardi B mentioned in a Rolling Stone interview that they were “all right now.”
“Because we do love each other,” Cardi B said at the time.
“It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. And it’s like, ‘OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.’ It’s not even about ‘How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend?”
In December, Cardi B emotionally addressed their relationship during an Instagram Live session.
“This motherf—er really likes to play games with me at my most vulnerable time. When I’m not the most confident,” she shared. “He likes to play games with me because he knows that I’m not an easy girl.”
Cardi B and Offset have had a tumultuous relationship since their marriage in September 2017.
They initially announced a split in 2018, reconciled, and then Cardi B filed for divorce again in September 2020, which they later called off.
The couple faced more challenges in June 2023 when Offset accused Cardi B of cheating on him in a since-deleted Instagram Story.
“My wife f—ed a N—- on me gang yall n—- know how I come,” read the post.
Cardi B responded with a Twitter Space conversation where she sang the first verse of Keyshia Cole’s “I Should Have Cheated,” and told listeners, “That motherf—er spiraling and thinking s—.”
“Please boy, stop acting stupid. Stop acting stupid,” she directly addressed Offset. “Going crazy over a f—ing Space. Don’t play with me. What the f—. Stop playing. That’s all I’m gonna motherf—ing say.”
Despite these issues, the couple released their single “Jealousy” together a month later.
The cover art for the track featured Cardi B with her hand in Offset’s face as she turned away.
They also celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in September, with Offset adorning their home with pink flowers and candles.
Cardi B expressed her appreciation on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for the flowers, the empowerment, the protection and for being a great father to our children… I love so many things about you.”
Offset reciprocated with his own Instagram post, saying, “Since I met you I grown to become a better man no matter what you have my back and I can trust you with my life blessed to have a loyal strong woman on my side…you are my safe place in this crazy world.”
According to TMZ sources, the split isn’t linked to cheating but rather to a long-standing disconnect between the two.
“They’re just disconnected from each other,” one source revealed.
