Boston Fans React To Chris Rock's First Comedy Show Since The Oscars Slap

Boston Chris Rock fans showed up Wednesday night (March 30) for two sold-out comedy shows at the Wilbur Theater to hear Chris Rock speak on getting slapped by Will Smith for the first time since the incident at the 94th Oscars ceremony.

The first show started at 7:30 PM and the second show started at 10:00 PM.

Fans in the crowd admitted to spending $800 – $1200 for their tickets.

The 1000-seat venue was rocking when Chris hit the stage.

He was welcomed with a standing ovation and bellows of applause.

After Chris calmed the crowd down, he jokingly asked the crowd how was their weekend and he briefly addressed the incident.

How was your weekend?

I don’t have a bunch of sh*t about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend.

I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that sh*t.

And it will be serious and funny.

A fan in the audience then yells out “F*** Will Smith!”, but Chris ignores it and continues with his set.

Listen to the live audio below:

Although Chris didn’t mention Will Smith’s name at all during his set, his fans seemed pleased just to be there in that moment to support him, and many of them understood that he’s still processing being slapped by Will Smith.

There was an altercation with an audience member shortly after Chris came out, but that audience member was taken out of the venue and arrested by Boston police.
