There Are Currently 4 Black Coaches In The NBA Playoffs

As a Black man and a huge NBA fan, I am proud to announce that Nate McMillan, Doc Rivers, Monty Williams, and Tyronn Lue make up 50% of the coaches still remaining in the 2021 NBA playoffs.

  • Nate McMillan – Interim Head coach of the ATLANTA HAWKS
  • Doc Rivers – Head coach of the PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
  • Monty Williams – Head coach of the PHOENIX SUNS
  • Tyronn Lue – Head coach of the LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS

These four coaches are defying stereotypes on a nightly basis, and proving to the world that Black coaches are not only viable but capable of competing at a high level.

Eventhough Doc Rivers coached the Boston Celtics to a championship in 2008 and Tyronn Lue coached the Cleveland Cavaliers to a championship in 2016, Black coaches have still been overlooked in the NBA and not given a fair shake.

Hopefully, the NBA will be encouraged to do better given the success of these four coaches.

Shouts out to Nate McMillan, Doc Rivers, Monty Williams, and Tyronn Lue on a great season and good luck in the remainder of the playoffs.

What coach do you think will lead their team to a NBA championship this year?
