Atlanta Mom, Jaquana Butler, Accused Of Shooting Her Son Over A Video Game Console

Atlanta mom Jaquana Butler is in custody for allegedly shooting her 17-year-old son multiple times over a video game console, according to police.

Atlanta police responded to the call Thursday night (June 29) around 10:20 PM at a home on the 1000 blocks of Sparks Street SW.

Police found the 17-year-old boy shot multiple times when they arrived on the scene.

He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, but his condition has not been made public.

Investigators revealed that the shooting happened while Butler and her son argued over a video game console.

According to police, Butler pulled out a gun during the argument and shot her son multiple times.

She was taken to Fulton County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and cruelty to children.

Court records show that Jaquana Butler has a history of abusive behavior. In 2019, she was found guilty as a first offender of four counts of second-degree child cruelty, child cruelty by causing excessive physical or mental pain, and family battery violence in a 2016 incident.

She was sentenced to six years probation.

Butler was recently released from Fulton County Jail on April 25 on a simple battery charge, and the case remains open.

She is now back in Fulton County Jail for the shooting charges.
