👀 Escapee Goes Live While On The Run
In a bold twist straight out of a crime drama, a man who escaped from jail in New Orleans didn’t just vanish—he went live on social media. Antoine Massey, one of 10 inmates who broke out of the Orleans Justice Center on May 16, posted videos of himself while still on the run, taunting authorities and pleading for help.
His unexpected posts led police to raid a home just over two miles from the jail, in the Fairgrounds and Gentilly area.
Although Massey wasn’t found during the late-night raid, investigators did locate clothing believed to have been worn in the now-deleted videos.
🏚️ The House, The Raid & The Landlord’s Reaction
The house in question is owned by 76-year-old Shedrick Burnell, who told the Associated Press he was renting the place out to a male tenant—though he wouldn’t name him.
Burnell claims he’s never met Massey and didn’t recognize the name until the viral videos hit social media.
“I’m 76, I’ve seen a helluva lot worse than this,” Burnell said. “As long as my tenant is safe, there’s nothing I can do.”
When a reporter knocked on the door Tuesday afternoon, no one answered.
🎥 The Social Media Videos That Sparked the Raid
The videos, posted Sunday and quickly flagged by Massey’s own relatives, appeared to show him sitting inside a kitchen, complete with visible facial tattoos that matched the fugitive’s mugshot.
In one video, Massey pleaded for help—addressing former President Donald Trump and New Orleans native Lil Wayne directly.
“Please, I’m asking for help,” Massey said. “When I get back in custody I’m asking y’all please to come and help.”

Louisiana State Police say the videos prompted immediate action, but Massey slipped away once again.
🔍 Eight Recaptured, Two Still Loose
So far, 8 of the 10 escapees have been recaptured.
But Massey and convicted murderer Derrick Groves remain on the loose more than two weeks after the daring breakout.
Authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for each escapee, hoping public tips will lead to their arrest.
State Police Superintendent Col. Robert Hodges stressed how quickly the situation can change, saying, “It’s usually because someone has helped them.”
He’s urging the public to keep the tips coming.
⚖️ Antoine Massey’s Legal Troubles & Public Pleas
Before his escape, Antoine Massey, 32, faced a slew of serious charges in two Louisiana parishes.
In St. Tammany Parish, he was charged with rape, kidnapping, domestic violence involving strangulation, and violating a protective order.
In Orleans Parish, he was behind bars for motor vehicle theft and domestic battery.
Despite the charges, Massey claimed innocence in one of his videos and alleged that he had been “let out” of jail—an assertion authorities firmly deny.
The woman believed to be Massey’s romantic partner has also been arrested.
She’s facing charges of obstruction of justice and acting as a principal to aggravated escape, after allegedly knowing about his plans and misleading investigators.
🚓 The Daring Escape & Official Responses
Authorities say Massey and the other inmates escaped by exploiting a faulty cell door, removing a toilet, and crawling through a hole where bars had been cut.
They then scaled a barbed wire fence using blankets.
A maintenance worker accused of helping the men escape is denying involvement through legal counsel.
Gov. Jeff Landry didn’t hold back during a recent press conference, urging the remaining fugitives to turn themselves in.
“If you want to plead your innocence … there is a court of law that is designed to do that,” Landry said. “Quit the hide-and-seek game.”
📌 Your Thoughts
This is one of the most audacious jailbreak stories New Orleans has seen in years, and it’s far from over.
With Antoine Massey still on the run and posting videos, authorities—and the public—are watching closely.
If you have any information that could help locate Massey or Groves, Louisiana authorities want to hear from you.
