Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from “The View” for two weeks after she said the holocaust was “not about race” on Monday.

ABC News President Kim Godwin said in a statement:

Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments.

While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments.

The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.

Watch the ABC News report below.

Whoopi has apologized for her remarks and she elaborated (or doubled down) on her stance during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

If you missed it, watch the clip below.

While many have taken to the streets of Twitter to call for Whoopi’s termination, former Mayor of New York Mike Bloomberg stuck beside her tweeting:

@WhoopiGoldberg has been a long-time friend and I know her heart is absolutely in the right place. I will vouch for her any day and her commitment to fighting all forms of prejudice. I know her apology is sincere and hope others will accept it.

Elgin Charles joined the convo with this thought:

Meghan McCain spent 4 years making inaccurate, inflammatory/insensitive, idiotic statements on #TheView without consequence or reproach. Yet, Whoopi Goldberg receives a 2 week suspension after apologizing for simply misspeaking.

This is how ABC is ringing in #BlackHistoryMonth?
