Tina Knowles and Richard Lawson have officially finalized their divorce settlement, 13 months after they first filed for separation.
The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish yacht ceremony on April 12, 2015, in Newport Beach, California, have now gone their separate ways after citing irreconcilable differences that led to what was described as an “irremediable breakdown” of their marriage.
In a move that speaks to their desire for a clean break, both Tina and the Divorce In The Black star have waived their rights to spousal support.
However, Tina Knowles agreed to a one-time payment of $300,000 to Richard Lawson, marking the final settlement of all financial interests accumulated during their union, including any shared debts.
As part of the settlement, Richard will keep his 2021 Cadillac Escalade, along with all earnings he’s made since their separation.
He’s also holding onto funds from his company, Richard Lawson Studios Inc., his SAG pension plan, royalties, creative works produced during their marriage, and personal items like clothing and jewelry.
On the other hand, Tina Knowles will retain ownership of properties in both Los Angeles and Texas, along with everything inside them—from furniture and appliances to artwork and personal effects.
She’s also holding onto her 2018 Tesla, a 2020 Bentley, her Matriarch book deal with Penguin Random House, and a 1% stake in Kirby Beauty Management LLC.
Like Richard Lawson, she will keep all earnings and creative works made post-separation.
In a sign of mutual respect, the former couple has also agreed to a “non-disparagement agreement,” in which they “acknowledge their intent to resolve all issues in their dissolution amicably” by agreeing to agree on any statements made about their divorce mutually and will not speak ill about their children, grandchildren, and their spouses.
I wish Mama Tina and Mr. Lawson the very best as they close this chapter of their lives.
