Frens, I attended an advance screening of The Long Walk, and let me tell you, my spirit is still trying to recover. Adapted from Stephen King’s very first novel, this movie wastes no time pulling you into the psychological and emotional chaos of its deadly competition.

The premise? Fifty young men must walk continuously at a speed of three miles per hour.

Fall behind three times, and you are gone forever.

The only reward is survival, a massive cash prize, and one wish granted.

But the cost of winning is brutal to watch.

Performances That Stay With You

Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson shine as Ray and Peter, building a friendship that deepens with every mile.

Their performances, along with an incredible ensemble, stay with you long after the credits roll.

And Mark Hamill as “the General”?

Let’s just say I never want to run into that man in real life after seeing him in this role.

Emotionally Taxing And Unforgettable

This movie is not for the faint of heart.

The violence is graphic, the tension is relentless, and the emotional toll is heavy.

At one point, I was crying so hard in the theater that the woman sitting next to me had to pat my shoulder and whisper, “It’s okay.”

That is how deep this film cuts.

Even if you have read King’s original book, director Francis Lawrence and screenwriter JT Molnar take enough creative liberties to keep you surprised.

From diversity in the cast to subtle but important changes in the rules of the Walk, this film stands on its own while honoring its source material.

The Long Walk is brutal, traumatic, and haunting, but it is also a story about resilience, determination, and unexpected brotherhood.

I highly recommend seeing it when it arrives in theaters on September 12, 2025.

Just be warned, I do not think I will be able to handle a second viewing myself.
