Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Dupart, took to social media to rave about The Color Purple after screening the film over the weekend.
This bold new take on the beloved classic is directed by Blitz Bazawule and produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders, and Quincy Jones.
The original film, starring Whoopi Goldberg, is described as an epic tale spanning forty years in the life of Celie, an African-American woman living in the South who survives incredible abuse and bigotry.
On Christmas Day, Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, and the remaining star-studded cast will take us on a brand new journey of a story we hold so dear.

Da Brat gushed about how amazing the film was and for those who are leery of remakes she said:
They did not mess it up. They didn’t do it over. It’s a remix, y’all. You know how get a bomb a— song and then you do the remix.
And the remix be like just as good or even better? This is so good, y’all.
Judy chimed in to issue a very important warning about The Color Purple that shouldn’t be overlooked.
“You need Kleenex when you go too,” she said.
Brat added, “You had grown a— men in there crying throughout the whole thing!”
