A Texas grand jury has indicted Netflix over their controversial French film, “Cuties.”
The film is about 11-year-old Amy starts to rebel against her conservative family’s traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew (see also Twerk Team).
The indictment, posted on social media by Matt Schaefer of Texas House District 6, has charged Netflix with “Promotion of Lewd Visual Material Depicting Child.”
Schaefer tweeted:
Netflix, Inc. indicted by grand jury in Tyler Co., Tx for promoting material in Cuties film which depicts lewd exhibition of pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 yrs of age which appeals to the prurient interest in sex #Cuties #txlege
See his original tweet below as well as a screenshot of the indictment.
The Tyler County District Attorney also released a statement:
“Cuties” has been a point of controversy for the streamer as people have launched petitions calling for Netflix to remove the film and many others have canceled the subscriptions.
Unfortunately, Netflix has stood steadfast in its decision to keep the film in their library.
I have seen clips of the film on Twitter and I am surprised EVERYONE isn’t outraged and appalled by the film.
