Tennessee Dad Justin Kanew gave one of the most eloquent mask mandate speeches ever at a Williamson County Board of Education meeting.
The meeting was held a week after the mask mandate was put in place.
The mandate requires all students, staff and visitors to wear masks due to the spike in COVID-19 cases across the state.
Many parents who attended the meeting opposed the mandate, and, reportedly, they were filmed outside the meeting venue harassing medical professionals and board officials who spoke in favor of the mandate.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee issued an executive order making it a requirement for schools across the state to allow parents to exempt their children from mask mandates.
Kanew said initially he did not intend to speak at the meeting, but when he saw almost all the speakers were anti-mask he felt the need to counter their talking points.
When I showed up and saw almost everyone slated to speak were anti-mask, anti-CRT Moms for “Liberty,” I felt like someone needed to speak to counter their talking points. So I signed up.
His speech has been viewed over 540,000 times on Twitter.
My favorite part of his speech is when he says his 5-year old daughter understands the concept of wearing mask “because we want to take care of other people,” but adults can’t seem to grasp the concept.

Justin Kanew runs a news site called The Tennessee Holler, and the title is fitting because he definitely hollered at Tennessee during his speech.
